One of the significant barriers to widespread electric vehicle (EV) adoption in underserved communities is the lack of accessible charging infrastructure. Without a reliable network of charging stations nearby, the prospect of owning an EV can feel daunting or even impossible.
It's a cyclical challenge – without enough EVs on the road, the demand for electrification through charging infrastructure in these neighborhoods may not seem apparent. Yet, without the presence of charging options, residents may be hesitant to switch to electric mobility.
Our goal is to create a welcoming environment that empowers residents to embrace the transition to sustainable transportation. By establishing a robust charging network in low-income areas, supported by grants for weatherization and infrastructure improvements, we can foster equitable electrification, promoting both environmental justice and economic opportunities for everyone.
