We're a 501(c)(3) nonprofit expanding access to clean energy in underserved communities. We install EV charging infrastructure, deliver energy efficiency and weatherization upgrades, and train local workers to build careers in the clean energy economy.
Every community deserves a fair shot at the clean energy transition. We partner with residents, contractors, and local governments across Maryland to close the gap in EV access, home energy costs, and workforce opportunities — so electrification benefits everyone, not just those who can already afford it.
One of the significant barriers to widespread electric vehicle (EV) adoption in underserved communities is the lack of accessible charging infrastructure. Without a reliable network of charging stations nearby, the prospect of owning an EV can feel daunting or even impossible.
It's a cyclical challenge – without enough EVs on the road, the demand for electrification through charging infrastructure in these neighborhoods may not seem apparent. Yet, without the presence of charging options, residents may be hesitant to switch to electric mobility.
Our goal is to create a welcoming environment that empowers residents to embrace the transition to sustainable transportation. By establishing a robust charging network in low-income areas, supported by grants for weatherization and infrastructure improvements, we can foster equitable electrification, promoting both environmental justice and economic opportunities for everyone.
Old wiring, poor insulation, and inefficient appliances hit low-income households the hardest — driving up energy bills before a single EV ever enters the picture. Our weatherization and efficiency programs help residents lower costs and prepare their homes for electrification, from insulation upgrades to panel upgrades that make future EV charging and electric appliances possible.
